- Information about the child collected through assessment automatically becomes a part of a child's school records
- The school district should establish policies regarding confidentiality of information contained in the school record
- Professionals conducting the evaluation are involved in collecting confidential information about a child's health status and educational development
- Personnel involved in the evaluation should treat their own impressions and concerns about children they see in a confidential manner and should refrain from talking about children and their performance with people not directly involved with conducting the evaluation
- If parents ask how their child is doing during evaluation, explain that screening results are meaningful only after all testing is completed
